Default Defeating Rotscale

I'm sure this is old hat to most of you folks, but: got to the little dead Dragon Island in Majesty's Rest and, after beating all the surrounding undead, phantoms, and Rotting Dragons, got continually smoked by Rotscale. I've got a L20 W/Ne, so, any tips are greatly appreciated.

One idea I've got is quite simply to ditch the henchies and heroes, get a party of 3, 4 healers and protectors for health restoration and interrupts, and then I and another tank just stand there and grind down on Rotscale. Would that work?

Thanks -

I've tried also that couple of times in HM. Since i'm playing an A/x, I think I'll try SF + shadow step + PBAoE next.

If that doesn't work... I'll go for the choking gar build.

Be sure to put Protective Spirit on both monks and besidesthat it doesnt really matters what you bring along, as long as it does damage.

Just do not give up, there's a statue very nearby, and since there's almost always favor, you can hurry back to there, buy off DP if you dont have DP removers, and bash rotscale again.

Personally I killed him with 2 warriors, 2 monks, an MM and an SF lol. Sure, we got wiped about 6 times, but just keep going at it, and you'll get him down eventually.

Something very import tho is to spread out. Do not let your heros/hench stand together because they will drop dead in seconds. Make sure that rotscale can only harm 1 person at a time, this makes it a lot easyer to prot/heal and it'll greatly increase your chances at survivability.

I tried to beat him a couple of weeks ago just out of randomness with hench and heros. after wiping out all the other enemies rotscale was wiping me out too. I was a W/something, using Ursan Blessing. not surprisingly, Rotscale would just wipe out all the H/H almost instantly. I got lucky one time and he missed my monk who was pinned a little further back.

20 mins later and he was dead... the party remained dead and the monk kept healing me just out of range of Rotscale while I bashed my skillbar.

I tried again later that day with a party and we all got wiped numerous times :| Positioning is the most important thing, and someone holding him in place and taking damage to give the healers half a chance.

Vanquished that area last night actually. My only special tactic if anything was to flag my heroes back and micro Prot Spirit on me at all times. I ran an SS and systematically killed everything except Rotscale myself. Then I triggered the Wraiths which actually wiped me...... np though, rez and run back and repay the favor. Flag your heroes to seperate spots on the stairs and the henchmen to a 4th spot to keep them out of AoE from FoC or Desecrate. I had Gwen as an interrupter which helps but with the flagging it wasn't really vital. Prot Spirit ftw though as I made sure my hard rez was under PS 24/7 just in case. Now whittle down the massive chicken. In normal mode its estimated to have about 20k hp....he has more in HM lol.
GL and HF and I hope this helps.

When I was going for Legendary Vanquisher I beat him (with just hero/hench) by getting my health over 2000 (via bonds and lvl 16 beastmaster with symbiosis) - and then grenth's balancing him repeatedly (of course you must first clear all the baddies around him, which can be quite a challenge in itself).

Although I must say I was shocked at how little his health bar dropped each time as I was constantly doing 600+ damage - the dude must have like 10,000 health!

Only when he was almost dead did we rush and deliver the killshot.

You can 3 man it in HM - the hardest bit is getting there. Just take the pvx wiki build and add 3rd monk with spirit bond. the 3rd monk is stood behind your tank just in range to cast spirit bond but out of range of the bad guys. The 3rd monk spams spirit bond as fast as possible, while the other 2 do exactly what the wiki build says. Job done in no time at all - easy peasy.

Meanwhile the rest of your 8 man team can kill everything else in the area for a very easy vanquish.

I just met showered him over and over until he died with heroes and henchies.

There's a shrine right next to him if you wind up taking too much DP clearing out the guys around him.

I attempted to kill the rot skale once, with a couple of my guild/alliance buddies, but failed the first time.. Those critters surrounding the rotscale were annoying enough, cutting you off.

Then when it came to nuking the hell out of the dragon it took forever.. Oi, it was annoying. Never really got a green from him, in the end. Which does suck..

Yeah he is a mother to take in NM alone, much harder than Lich, Shiro, Abaddon and Great Destroyer easily

Talk:Rotscale#Hard_Mode.

Only three heroes and two hench needed, and the player can be any profession. Essentially foolproof.
